How to Rearrange Your Instagram Grid
Press and hold a post on your Instagram profile, choose Reorder grid, and drag posts into a new order. Instagram began rolling the feature out on 8 June 2026, in the iPhone and Android app. Nothing is deleted, and post dates stay the same.

What Reorder grid is
Until June 2026 your Instagram profile grid was always in posting order: newest at the top left. The only way to change it was to pin up to three posts to the top, or to archive or delete posts and post them again.
Reorder grid lets you move any post on your profile to any place, however old it is. You don't lose likes or comments, and the post keeps its original date, so visitors may see dates out of order.
It changes only the order. The grid is still 3 columns of 3:4 rectangles, and each post is still cropped to its middle there.
How to reorder your grid
- Update the Instagram app. Instagram said the feature comes in the latest version.
- Go to your profile.
- Press and hold any post on the grid.
- Choose Reorder grid in the menu. It sits next to Pin to main grid and Archive.
- Drag posts into the order you want. Pinned posts show dimmed at the top and can't be dragged.
- Leave the screen. Instagram says changes are saved straight away and everyone who visits sees the new order.
- To move a pinned post, unpin it first (press and hold it, then Unpin), then reorder it like any other.
Who has it: the reports conflict
Instagram announced Reorder grid in a post on its @creators account and has published no Help Center page for it. Coverage from the launch week disagrees on how widely it arrived, so if you don't have it yet you may simply be waiting.
- If you don't see Reorder grid, update the app from the App Store or Google Play first.
- Check you're pressing a post on your own profile grid, not in the feed.
- If it's still missing, the rollout may not have reached your account yet.

What changes and what doesn't
| What | After reordering |
|---|---|
| Order on your profile | Changed, straight away, for everyone |
| Post dates | Unchanged, so dates can look out of order |
| Likes and comments | Kept |
| Followers | Not notified |
| Pinned posts | Stay at the top |
| Grid shape | Still 3:4 tiles; posts are still cropped to their middle |
Plan the new order before you drag
Dragging posts around a live profile means visitors see every half-finished step. Trying the order out first is quicker: add the photos to a planner, move them about on a 3:4 grid, and only then reorder the real grid to match.
A planner also helps with posts you haven't made yet: it shows where each new post will land and in what order to post them.
If your grid is one big picture split across tiles, reordering breaks it. Move the whole set together, or rebuild it with new 3:4 tiles. See how to split a picture for an Instagram grid.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rearrange my Instagram grid?
In the Instagram app, go to your profile, press and hold a post, choose Reorder grid and drag posts into place. Changes save straight away.
Why don't I have Reorder grid?
Update the app first. Instagram began rolling it out on 8 June 2026; some reports say every account got it that day, others that it reached people gradually, so yours may not have it yet.
Does reordering change post dates or notify my followers?
No. Posts keep their original dates, likes and comments, and followers aren't told. Visitors simply see the new order.
Can I move pinned posts?
Not while they're pinned. Pinned posts stay at the top of your grid; unpin a post first, then reorder it.
Can I rearrange my grid on a computer?
Reports describe it only in the iPhone and Android app, and none mention instagram.com. Plan the order in a browser, then make the change on your phone.
