Zones are approximate: they shift a little between phones and app versions, and ads add a larger button at the bottom.

How to check your safe zones

1

Add your image or video

Choose, drop or paste an image, or pick a video and drag the slider to the frame you want to check.

2

Pick the app

Reels, Stories, TikTok or Shorts. “All four” shows the area that's clear on every one of them.

3

Move anything that's covered

Text, faces and logos should sit inside the green box. Save the preview to share it with your editor.

Why vertical videos need a safe zone

Full-screen apps draw their own interface straight on top of your video: a header at the top, a column of like, comment and share buttons down the right, and your username, caption and sound along the bottom. Anything you put in those places, such as subtitles, a price or someone's face, ends up hidden behind them.

This checker places your image or video in a 1080 × 1920 frame, the way the app fills the screen, and shades the areas each app covers. The green box is what's left: keep important text and faces inside it. The zones are measured from the apps on common phones as of October 2026 and rounded outwards. Phones differ a little and apps move things between versions, so allow a small margin.

Ads get a larger button at the bottom (“Shop now”, “Learn more”), so if you're making an ad, leave extra room at the bottom, around a third of the screen. Your file never leaves your device: the overlay is drawn in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is the safe zone for Instagram Reels?

On a 1080 × 1920 Reel, keep text and faces out of roughly the top 220 px, the bottom 400 px and the right-hand 180 px, where the buttons sit. That leaves a box of about 840 × 1300 px.

What is the TikTok safe zone?

Leave about 200 px at the top for the For You and Following tabs, about 480 px at the bottom for your username, caption and sound, and about 140 px on the right for the profile, like, comment, save and share buttons.

Can I use one video for Reels, TikTok and Shorts?

Yes. Choose “All four” and keep everything important inside the green box: about 830 × 1190 px, starting 60 px from the left and 250 px from the top of a 1080 × 1920 frame.

My video isn't 9:16. What will the app show?

The apps zoom a vertical video to fill the screen and crop what doesn't fit. “Fill the screen” shows that crop and how much is cut off; drag the position slider to see what stays in view.

Which video formats work?

Whatever your browser can play, which is MP4 almost everywhere and MOV in Safari. If a video won't open, take a screenshot of the frame and use that instead.
