How bold text works on LinkedIn
LinkedIn posts are plain text, so there's no way to make text bold the way a word processor does. What does work is Unicode: it has its own bold and italic letters, and LinkedIn shows them like any other character. This tool swaps the letters you select for those.
The feed shows roughly the first three lines of a post, or about 210 characters, before “…see more”. The preview cuts your post at the same point so you can check that your hook lands above it. The exact cut varies a little between phone and desktop.
Keep styled text to a few key words. Screen readers can read Unicode bold letter by letter, and LinkedIn search won't match it, so don't style words people need to find, like your job title or company.

Frequently asked questions
Does bold text hurt my reach on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn hasn't said it does. The bigger risk is readability: a little bold helps people skim, but a post full of it is hard to read and invisible to search.
Why can't I bold accented letters?
Unicode only has bold and italic versions of the basic letters A–Z and digits. Letters like é or ñ stay as they are.
Can I use this for my headline or About section?
Yes, it works anywhere on LinkedIn that takes text. Keep your name, job title and skills plain so recruiters' searches still find them.
How long can a LinkedIn post be?
Up to 3,000 characters. The counter above the box turns red if you go over.
