Facebook Cover Photo Maker for Mobile and Desktop
Facebook's cover sizes conflict: its Help Center says covers show at 16:9 on computers and 2.4:1 on phones, while most guides say 820 × 312 on computers and 640 × 360 on phones. This maker exports 1640 × 624, marks all of those crops on your photo and keeps text in the 984 × 550 area they all show.

Facebook's sizes conflict. Its Help Center now says covers show at 16:9 on computers and 2.4:1 on phones and load fastest at 851 × 315; most guides say 820 × 312 on computers and 640 × 360 on phones, and some say upload 1640 × 624.
We export 1640 × 624, sharp on high-resolution screens, and mark all three crops. The green box is inside every one of them and clear of the profile photo, so it is right whichever source is current.
Device crops and profile-photo positions are estimates from each app’s current layout, rounded so the safe area errs small.
What people see
Some text is outside the safe area, so it may be cut off or hidden behind the profile photo on some devices. Make it smaller or shorter.

How to make a Facebook cover photo that fits on mobile
Add your photo
The editor is already set to a 1640 × 624 Facebook cover. Choose, drop or paste a photo.
Place it
Drag and zoom until the important part is inside the green box. To keep a whole photo, press Fit whole photo and fill the sides with a blur, a colour or a gradient.
Check phones and computers
The blue outline is the whole cover, purple the 16:9 crop and orange the 2.4:1 crop; the red circles are your profile picture. The Desktop and Mobile previews show what each keeps.
Add text and download
Type a title and subtitle if you want them. Choose PNG for a cover that is mostly text or a logo, or keep JPEG for a photo, and press Download 1640 × 624 JPEG (or PNG).
Set it on Facebook
On your Page or profile, choose the edit option on the cover photo, upload the file and leave it where Facebook places it before you save.

Why one Facebook cover looks different on a phone
Facebook takes one cover image and shows a different slice of it on computers and phones, and the published figures don't agree on which. Facebook's own Help Center says covers show at 16:9 on computers and 2.4:1 on mobile devices. Most guides, and many older templates, say 820 × 312 on computers and 640 × 360 on phones. Some say to upload 1640 × 624. A cover made to one of these can lose its edges, or a name, on the others.
Rather than pick one source, this maker marks all of them on your photo. The 1640 × 624 export is twice 820 × 312, so it stays sharp on high-resolution screens, and the green box (984 × 550 px, x 390–1374, y 0–550) sits inside every crop and clear of the profile picture on both computers and phones. Whichever figure is right for your screen, what's in the green box shows.
Where the numbers come from
Facebook's Help Center page on Page profile and cover photo dimensions gives the 16:9 and 2.4:1 crops, a 400 × 150 minimum, and 851 × 315 as the size that loads fastest, as an sRGB JPG under 100 KB. It shows profile pictures at 176 × 176 on computers and 196 × 196 on phones, overlapping the cover by about 40 px on mobile, and says a PNG may look better for covers with a logo or text. The 820 × 312 and 640 × 360 figures come from guides and older Facebook layouts.
Facebook doesn't publish a file size limit for covers, so the JPEG is saved at 92% quality; at this size it will be larger than 100 KB, which only affects how fast it loads, not whether it's accepted. The profile picture positions are our estimates from the current layout. Your photo is drawn in your browser and isn't uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Facebook cover photo size?
Sources disagree. Facebook's Help Center says covers load fastest at 851 × 315 and must be at least 400 × 150; most guides say 820 × 312. This tool exports 1640 × 624, twice 820 × 312, so it stays sharp on high-resolution screens.
What is the Facebook cover photo size for mobile?
Facebook's Help Center says phones show the cover at 2.4:1; most guides say 640 × 360 (16:9). Keep text and faces in the 984 × 550 green box here: it's inside both crops.
Why is my Facebook cover cut off on my phone?
Phones crop the cover to a different shape than computers (2.4:1 per Facebook, 16:9 per most guides), and Facebook says the profile picture overlaps the cover by about 40 px on mobile. Move important parts towards the middle and away from the lower left.
Is a Page cover the same size as a profile cover?
Facebook publishes its cover figures for Pages only. Personal profiles have a cover photo too, and the tool makes one file for either, but check the edges on your own profile after you upload it.
Should I use JPG or PNG for my Facebook cover?
Facebook says a PNG may give better results for covers with a logo or text. For a photo, a JPEG is smaller and looks the same. Both are offered here.
