LinkedIn Banner Maker for Profiles and Company Pages

A LinkedIn profile banner (the background photo) is 1584 × 396 pixels, JPG or PNG under 8 MB. A company page cover is 1512 × 256, up to 3 MB. Your profile photo or logo covers the lower left, so keep text to the right. Add a photo, check both views and download the exact size.

Overlays

LinkedIn recommends 1584 × 396, JPG or PNG under 8 MB. The profile photo sits over the left third, so keep text to the right.

Device crops and profile-photo positions are estimates from each app’s current layout, rounded so the safe area errs small.

How to make a LinkedIn banner

1

Pick the banner

It opens on the personal profile banner, 1584 × 396. For a company page, choose "LinkedIn: Company page cover (1512 × 256)" in the Banner list.

2

Add and place your photo

Choose, drop or paste a photo, then drag and zoom it. Press Fit whole photo to keep all of it and fill the sides with a blur, a colour or a gradient.

3

Keep clear of the photo

The red circles (or squares, for a company logo) show what your profile photo covers on desktop and in the app. Keep your name, tagline and any faces inside the green area to the right.

4

Add text and download

Type a title and subtitle if you want them and press Download 1584 × 396 JPEG (or the company page size).

5

Upload it on LinkedIn

On your profile, select the edit icon on the background photo and upload the file. For a company page, open the page as an admin and edit its cover image.

Profile banner or company cover: two different shapes

LinkedIn has two banners and they don't share a shape. Your personal profile's background photo is 1584 × 396 (4:1). A company page cover is much flatter, 1512 × 256 (about 6:1). An image made for one is cropped badly on the other, so make each at its own size: pick it in the Banner list and the editor switches to it.

On both, LinkedIn puts something over the lower left: your round profile photo, or the company's square logo. On a profile banner that takes about the left 31% on desktop and in the app, so the safe area is the 1098 × 396 block to the right (x 486–1584, y 0–396). On a company cover it's 1166 × 256 (x 346–1512, y 0–256).

Where the numbers come from

The sizes and limits are LinkedIn's own: 1584 × 396, JPG or PNG under 8 MB, from its help page on profile cover images, and 1512 × 256, PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB, from its image specifications for LinkedIn Pages. LinkedIn notes that how the image appears can change with the browser window and screen, and it doesn't publish where the profile photo or logo sits, so those zones are our estimates from the current layout, rounded so the safe area errs small.

JPEGs are saved at the highest quality that fits LinkedIn's limit. Your photo is opened and drawn in your browser and isn't uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LinkedIn banner size?

1584 × 396 pixels for a personal profile's background photo, JPG or PNG under 8 MB, as LinkedIn's help page recommends.

What size is a LinkedIn company page cover?

LinkedIn asks for 1512 × 256, PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB. Older guides say 1128 × 191 and some newer ones 4200 × 700; all are about 6:1, so the layout is the same. The company logo is 400 × 400 (at least 268 × 268).

Where does my profile photo cover the banner?

The lower left, on desktop and in the app: roughly the left 31% of a profile banner. Keep text and faces in the 1098 × 396 area to the right. LinkedIn doesn't publish the exact spot, so the tool's zones are estimates, rounded generously.

Can I use the same image for my profile and a company page?

Not well. The profile banner is 4:1 and the company cover about 6:1, so one of them would lose most of the picture. Make one of each: switch the Banner list and download again.

Why does my LinkedIn background photo look cut off?

LinkedIn says how the image appears can change with your browser window and screen, and your profile photo covers its lower left. Upload the full size and keep text away from the edges and the photo.
