X (Twitter) Header Maker with Safe Zone
An X (Twitter) header is 1500 × 500 pixels (3:1). Some screens trim about 60 px off the top and bottom, and your profile photo covers the lower left, so the safe zone is the 1120 × 380 area to its right. Add a photo, keep your text inside that zone and download the exact size. Free, no login.

Safe area 1120 × 380 px
or drop it here, or paste it (JPG, PNG or WebP)
X recommends 1500 × 500 and warns that some screens crop the top and bottom. The profile photo covers the lower left.
X doesn't publish a header file limit we could confirm (guides say 2 MB or 5 MB), so JPEGs are kept under 2 MB.
Device crops and profile-photo positions are estimates from each app’s current layout, rounded so the safe area errs small.
What people see
Some text is outside the safe area, so it may be cut off or hidden behind the profile photo on some devices. Make it smaller or shorter.

How to make an X header that isn't cut off
Add your photo
The editor is already set to X's 1500 × 500 header. Choose, drop or paste a photo.
Place it
Drag and zoom until the important part sits inside the green safe zone. For a photo of another shape, press Fit whole photo and fill the gaps with a blurred copy, a colour or a gradient.
Check the crops
The purple outline is what cropped screens show and the red circles are your profile photo on desktop and in the app. The Desktop and Mobile app previews show the result.
Add text and download
Type a title and subtitle if you want them, then press Download 1500 × 500 JPEG.
Set it on X
On your profile, choose Edit profile, then the camera icon on the header, and pick the file. If X shows a crop box, leave it as it is: the file is already 3:1.

Why X headers get cut off
X shows one header image in several places. A wide desktop window shows the whole 1500 × 500 image, but X says some monitors and browsers crop the header, and in practice that is a strip off the top and bottom. Your round profile photo then sits over the lower left corner, on desktop and in the app. Text or a face placed near the top, the bottom or the left side is the part that goes missing.
The safe zone is what's left: the band to the right of the profile photo, between the cropped edges. Here it's 1120 × 380 px (x 380–1500, y 60–440). People also search for an "X header size converter": a photo that isn't 3:1 has to be cropped or padded to fit, and Fit whole photo does the padding with a blurred copy of the same photo, so nothing is stretched.
Where the numbers come from
1500 × 500 is X's own recommended header size, from its help page on uploading a profile photo, which also gives 400 × 400 for the profile photo. X doesn't say how much a cropped screen loses or exactly where the profile photo sits, so those are our estimates from the current layout (about 60 px top and bottom, and a 340 px circle starting 40 px from the left), rounded so the safe zone errs small.
X doesn't publish a header file limit we could confirm; guides say 2 MB or 5 MB. The tool keeps JPEGs under the lower 2 MB by lowering the quality only as far as needed. Your photo is opened and drawn in your browser and isn't uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
What size is an X (Twitter) header?
1500 × 500 pixels, a 3:1 shape, as X's help page recommends. The profile photo is 400 × 400. Smaller headers are stretched and look soft, so start from at least 1500 px wide.
What is the X header safe zone?
About 1120 × 380 px: the area right of the profile photo, between 60 px from the top and 60 px from the bottom (x 380–1500, y 60–440). X doesn't publish one, so this is our estimate from the current layout, rounded small.
Why is my X header cut off?
X notes that some monitors and browsers crop the header, which takes a strip off the top and bottom, and your profile photo covers the lower left. Move text and faces into the middle band, right of the photo.
How do I resize a photo to 1500 × 500 without stretching it?
Add it here and press Fit whole photo. The photo keeps its shape, the gaps are filled with a blurred copy, a colour or a gradient, and Download 1500 × 500 JPEG saves it at the exact size.
What is the file size limit for an X header?
X doesn't publish one we could confirm; guides say 2 MB or 5 MB. This tool keeps JPEG headers under 2 MB so they're within both.
Can I use the same image as a Bluesky banner?
The shape is the same: Bluesky banners are 1500 × 500 too. But Bluesky takes at most 1 MB and its web profile shows a shorter strip, so choose Bluesky in the Banner list and download a copy for it.
